Prof. Dr. Antonio Romero

Cuban economist, Ph D in economics (University of Havana, December/1996); specialized on international economic relations. Currently is titular professor at the University of Havana (UH). He was director of Center for International Economic Research (CIEI in Spanish) of the UH from January/1992 until April/2002. In April 2002, he started to work at the Permanent Secretariat of SELA (Latin American & Caribbean Economic System) as international official. In December 2011, he returned back to Havana, as Chief of CIEI’s International Trade and Economic Integration Department, Currently he is Dean of the Economic School and President of the Caribbean Studies Chair “Norman Girvan” of the University of Havana. In August 2015, Simon Bolivar University (Barranquilla, Colombia) awarded him with a Honoris Causa PhD degree in Social Sciences and Humanities for his intellectual work in the international economic relations and Caribbean Studies fields. He has published more than 60 articles in specialized journals on economy, development and international relations.
